Week 3 | Monthly book Recs

·

As part of my weekly obsessions, I wanted to slip in some of my favorite reads each month, too! For those of you who know me well, you’ll know that I read 1-3 books a week- before you think I’m an overachiever, I am an individual with a diagnosis of severe A.D.H.D. and my brain needs constant stimulation, kind of like I’m like a toddler. I love fantasizing about being in someone else’s shoes, experiencing their emotions, and allowing the writer’s poetic heroism to flow through my veins. Writing and reading have always been something that excites me to the point that I can stay up until 2:00 am and lose track of time. I realize that most people read a book a month, which is exactly why I’m going to share with you my two favorite reads of the month! I prefer books that keep my attention and was once someone who called herself “someone who hates reading.” Turns out I was just reading books that I couldn’t relate to or books that I could fantasize about being them. I learned that this was something I needed to keep my focus. I’ll make sure that the books are all SIX out of five stars and are all books that can pull you out of a reading slump, books that you won’t want to put down, and books that will get you back into the swing routine of reading every day!

This month, thw two books I’d like to share are ones that I couldn’t put down!

Book #1 Pen Pal by J.T. Geissinger

Oh. My.  GOOOODDDD! This book! First of all, it’s not what you think but I’m not going to give too much away. If you’re not into romance novels, this is the books that will leave you OBSESSED with romance novels and needing more!! This book is a ‘grumpy/sunshine, overly protective man, a girl with a normal looking body, has some raunchy moments that hit the spot (and some that are a little too over the top for my taste, but skim over those parts if you’re not comfortable, the story is worth it!! I PROMISE), ghosts, the sweetest kind of love story that exists, and a happy ending- sort of. Well without saying too much: The main character, Kayla, lives in this 5,000 square foot Victorian mansion that she has purchased with her husband… well late husband. Her husband recently dies in a horrible drowning accident. It’s a story of how she navigates dating and falling in love, possibly the angry ghost of her late husband haunting her and learning how to continue the ever-going renovation on her 100+ year old home as a single girl on a budget. That’s all I’m going to tell you, other than there is a happy ending… sort of. ALRIGHT! That’s all I’m going to say, but if you buy one book this month, this has to be it!!

Book #2 King of Greed by Ana Huang

If you’re looking for a great second chance love story, this is it. This book is so relatable, because we all come to a point in our relationships, both romantic and platonic, where we forget how to love one another, and we forget how to prioritize what really matters. This novel is about two main characters, Dominic and Alesandra Davenport, a married couple who met in college. Dominic was a foster kid and worked his way to being King of Wallstreet. From his fear of failure, his go-to became putting his work first to the point where he forgot he and Alesandra’s 10-year anniversary trip, missing their flight and all. Alesandra chooses to ask Dominic for a divorce, starts a life of her own… all the while Dominic refuses to give up on their love for one another. This book ebbs and flows in a relatively realistic manner (for billionaires lol) and is lovely in the way we see a dual perspective. Happy ending, although maybe not the one you think.
