Week 6 | Homemade Elderberry Syrup
That’s it. It’s fall vibes all over the place and it’s officially the season of the freaking witch! I am so here for it and I’m dipping back into my witchy self! PLUS, we are dipping into Cold & Flu season… YUCK! Today, I’m sharing how my family keeps healthy throughout the flu season so you can help your body fight off those viruses too!
For those of you who may not know, I am an herbalist. I love helping people feel better, I love helping myself feel better, and I love doing that even ore when it tastes amazing! Are you guys ready for some Kitchen Witchin? GOOD! Because this week I’m sharing a very simple Elderberry Syrup Recipe that anyone can make, and the cost is SO much cheaper than buying it. I just can’t WAIT for you to tell me how much fun it was to make, how easy it was, and how excited you are to take a deeper look into plants that heal and nourish our bodies! I can’t wait for this spring, because I have the best Nettle Recipe that is going to blow your dang mind!! You’re also getting an extra song in this blog, because we’re all little witches and we all deserve to feel it.
Let’s all boost our immune systems, promote regular bodily movement (if you know what I mean!... Pooping. I’m referring to pooping regularly.), douse our bodies with vitamins, antioxidants (those things that kill cancer cells), and enjoy the anti-inflammatory effects of the magical elderberry.
And congratulations. If you have ever had an interest in becoming an herbalist, you can officially call yourself an herbalist after you’ve made your own elderberry syrup. An Herbalist is someone who treats the whole person, not the symptom. We are starting at the bare root of health: Our immune system. Our immune system is responsible for most everything, but then again, any herbalist would say that about all body systems. As herbalists, when someone comes to us with headaches, instead of treating the symptom, we ask questions and find out WHY you are having headache instead of making the pain with medicine you have to take.
